Test your race day nutrition plan in training - not on race day

Have you tried something new on race day and had it go terribly wrong?

This has been the theme of the day with this week’s 1:1 client calls. I spoke with a number of people who have decided in the heat of the moment to use a gel, bar or energy drink mid race that they’ve never tired before and it went horribly wrong.

For some it meant not finishing the race, for others it meant they totally ran out of energy before the finish line and others ended up in the porta-loo with some major gut issues.

Test your race nutrition plan and anything new in training - not on race day.

Unless you have a stomach of steel, trying something new with your nutrition is a major factor to people getting gut upset, ending up in the portaloo or not finishing their race.

Stick with what you know works!
