Whatever your age and athletic level, each of us want to achieve our personal optimal physical and mental health and reach our individual best athletic performance. This talk and discussion will focus on providing you with the understanding and the practical strategies to reach your personal full potential and attain your goals.
The discussion will be led by medical doctor Dr Nicky Keay and clinical sports dietician Dr Gemma Sampson flying in from Girona specially for this event. The experts will be joined by former pros and current triathlon age group World Champion Michelle Dillon with fourth placed Stuart Hayes in World Championships.
This event is particularly relevant for both male and female masters athletes whether you are:

Dr Nicky Keay graduated and qualified as a medical doctor from Cambridge University and is currently an Honorary Clinical Lecturer, Division of Medicine, University College London. Nicky’s clinical endocrine work focuses on working with exercisers, dancers and athletes. Nicky works to provide a more personalised approach for hormone health and offers health advisory appointments. She is the author of “Health Hormones and Human Potential: A guide to understanding your hormones to optimise your health and performance”. Nicky’s research focuses on areas of exercise endocrinology, with numerous publications in this field. Nicky was part of the international medical team that developed an anti-doping test for growth hormone. Nicky is frequently invited to present at international conferences. Nicky authored the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) Health4performance.co.uk online resource and produced online courses for female athletes and their coaches endorsed by BASEM.
Nicky was a competitive swimmer and dancer. Nicky continues to take ballet class 4 times a week; otherwise, you will find her on her bike in Richmond Park, on the tennis court, in the pool, or out on a windsurfer.
Dr Gemma Sampson is an Advanced Sports Dietitian based in Sydney and Girona with over 12 years’ experience working with amateur and elite cyclists and corporate clients. Gemma aims to optimise your health and performance be that in training, competition or in the boardroom. Gemma takes an individualised and holistic approach to sports nutrition that is tailored around individual training and performance goals.
Gemma is a passionate cyclist herself, and loves working with motivated high performing endurance athletes and seeing them get results and achieve their goals. When Gemma is not talking about sports nutrition, you’ll find her practicing what she preaches and putting nutrition science into practice on the bike herself.
Michelle Dillon has competed in 2 Olympics in triathlon and in 2 Commonwealth Games in two different sports: triathlon & 10 Km running. Michelle is European triathlon champion, British triathlon champion, World duathlon champion, 3 x age group World sprint champion.
Michelle started out as a long-distance runner and due to a long history of injuries, turned to triathlon. Michelle had to learn how to swim at the age of 23yrs old, through blood sweat and tears, she got to two Olympic Games. Injuries always played a huge part of Michelle’s career and a double spinal fusion ended her career prematurely in 2007 at the age of 34yrs old. Michelle started her own coaching business as she wanted to help others achieve their goals. Michelle has been a coach to many world class athletes as well as an Olympic coach in London 2012. Michelle now enjoys coaching and competing as an age group athlete.
Stuart Hayes is a London 2012 Olympic triathlete and British sprint champion. Stuart was reserve for Athens Olympics 2004 and 1st in the World Triathlon Series in Kitzbuhel 2010. Stuart is a coach to world class athletes around the world.
Stuart started out as a swimmer who turned to triathlon at the age of 15yrs of age. Stuart paved his way to the top of the sport learning from the best athletes and coaches around him. After a successful career in triathlon Stuart was hit head in by a Deer in Richmond Park which shattered his pelvis & ended his career, he then turned to join his wife Michelle in coaching and together their passion for helping others built a successful business. Stuart now balances coaching and competing as an age group athlete.
Gavin Francis Gavin Francis studied mathematics at St. John’s College, Cambridge, before pursuing a quantitative finance career in the investment management industry. Since 2016, Gavin has specialised in applying his expertise in data science and algorithmic techniques to analysing sports performance, particularly in the fields of cycling and deep learning. He has conducted research with his wife, Dr. Nicky Keay, on the health and performance of cyclists, leading to publications in academic journals. He contributes articles to the cycling press.
As a keen sportsman, Gavin won the British Masters Cycle Racing road race championships in 2022. He has represented Great Britain at age group level in World and European duathlon championships. He is an accomplished skier and snowboarder, while in the summer, you may find him kitesurfing, windsurfing or pursuing the family tradition of rock climbing.
