Haribo vs energy gels. Which would you choose?
Did you know that 25g of Haribo provides pretty much the same energy and carbs as a gel? Perhaps not the most ideal food to be snacking on while watching Netflix!
I shared this fact recently with a client who was snacking on Haribo on a daily basis. It may not seem like much, but a couple handfuls can quickly equal a couple of gels.
Would you ever take a couple gels while chilling out watching TV? No! In that context it wouldn't make sense!
With nutrition it's never a black and white scenario - there's always a time and a place. It just depends on the context (and the portion size).
During training or racing when you need a rapid source of energy, Haribo can make a easy, tasty affordable alternative to gels.
But as a snack, there are more nourishing options out there that would keep you fuller longer, avoid blood sugar level spikes and provide long-lasting energy.
